Winter is here! …you guessed it: I am a Game of Thrones-nut! I will honour this epic series with theme drinks. I won’t be commenting on the series – not only to avoid any spoilers for those who haven’t seen the last episode. This is purely about the joy of drinking with the benefit of being a little numb when… bad things happen 😉
Here come the first three drinks…
Some of the drinks represent characters, others entire families. Certain honoured characters that are dead already (or will be dead by the time I’ll post them – who knows?). You will notice that I will skip the most sinister characters. After all, the purpose of those drinks is enjoyment. And I simply do not see how I could enjoy sipping a Ramsey Bolton. Or a Joffrey Baratheon … Anyhow, cheers to yet another awesome season!
Remark: In case you are unable to watch the episode as soon as it comes out – I assure you that there will be no spoiler about the current season in this blog. I do assume, however, that you have watched until the end of season 6 (there are some references in the drink descriptions that might spoil you otherwise).
So to cut to the chase, let me introduce the first three drinks:
THE “WHITE WALKER”
“The Others come when it’s cold… or it gets cold when they come”
- 50 ml dry gin (e.g. the Botanist)
- 20 ml Blue Curaçao (e.g. Bols)
- 7.5 ml Marascino Liquor
- 20 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 50 ml coconut water or – alternatively – coconut milk/cream
- 15 ml simple syrup (optional)
Blend all ingredients with ice.
Glass: Nachtmann (Division of Riedel) / Westwing, CHF 23.90 for 2
This drink may not have the powers to heal greyscale – but it’s strong enough to endure it. For a while.
- 70ml white rum (e.g. Bacardi)
- 45ml fresh lime juice
- 15ml simple syrup
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into ice filled glass
Glass: Maisons du Monde, CHF 35.40 for 12
“You are mine and I am yours – and if we die we die, but first we’ll live!” Cheers to that!
Shake first two ingredients with ice, pour into ice filled glass and top up with tonic water.
Glass: GLOBUS, CHF 5.50 pP
Drink it in! Cheers!
